The grounds feature a raised platform with a stage defined
by a shade sail structure. The City chose a sail structure that will
withstand up to 140 miles per hour wind load. Pervious pavers encourage
walking through the landscaped areas featuring planter areas, and seat walls as
well as benches and decorative landscaping and trellises. The park blends
with the “West Settlers” streetscape that has been installed along

A further connection with the community was achieved when the CRA released a
call to artists to design a sculpture or artistic element for the new public
plaza. The competition has been narrowed to three finalists and the
winner will be announced on Monday, June 28th, said Vince Wooten, with the CRA
who administered the competition. $15,000 has been set aside for the
installation.
