Ocean Gate Takes Off Strong in 2010
Date: 01-08-2010

Stuart, Florida  -  The St. Petersburg City Commissioners unanimously approved the contract award to Ocean Gate General Contractors, Inc. for the construction of the new Air Traffic Control Tower at Albert Whitted Airport.  The award was made official at the January 7th, Commission meeting.   This is an exciting addition to the company’s extensive aviation portfolio.  The project had been awaiting additional funding from the FAA, and the waiting is finally over.  Richard Lesinak, Airport Manager for the Albert Whitted Airport is thrilled to have the project go forward, and is looking forward to working with Ocean Gate.  “Their background in aviation is impressive, and I know this will be a great project.”   He has worked tirelessly behind the scenes coordinating with the FAA to secure the additional funding.

Ocean Gate General Contractors, Inc.’s project management team is ready to go with Michael Cason, LEED AP as lead project manager, and Dan Alessandrini, as General Superintendent.  The scope of work will include the construction of a new Air Traffic Control Tower, and National Weather Service Station at the base of the tower, and lastly the existing tower will be demolished and new landscaping will be installed.  The team is very experienced managing construction activities at an active airport.  The project will take approximately a year to complete.

Congratulations to Ocean Gate, this is a strong beginning for 2010.
