South Florida Water Management District Taps Ocean Gate

Stuart, FL - The South Florida Water Management District is a regional,
governmental agency that oversees the water resources in the southern half of
the state - 16 counties from
Orlando
to the Keys. It is the oldest and largest of the state's five water management
districts, and has just celebrated 60 years of service to
Florida. The agency's mission is to
manage and protect water resources of the region by balancing and improving
water quality, flood control, natural systems and water supply. A key
initiative is cleanup and restoration of the
Everglades.
In
times of storms and emergencies, the south Florida Water Management District’s
EmergencyOperationsCenter
is a hub of
activity. To accommodate the district’s growth and needs, Ocean Gate has
been awarded a contract to construct and install a new 1,000 KW generator and
building to hold the unit, a new 400 KW uninterrupted power supply unit, and
two 12,000 gallons fuel tank. Additional parking and sitework are also
included in the scope of work.
