Stuart,
Florida. In an effort to lead to a
"greener” way, Ocean Gate General Contactors donated and planted trees
at Public Libraries throughout Martin County on Earth Day, Wednesday,
April 22, 2009. The company planted Gumbo Limbo trees at five
library locations culminating with a planting ceremony at the Blake Library at
4pm. The library hosted a tree jubilee for forty elementary age children
who participated in the planting of the Gumbo Limbo trees and took home a
seedling to plant in their own yards. Judi Snyder, with the Martin County
Library Systems was instrumental in coordinating this collaborative
event.

environmental practices. Founded in the 70's, its' current President Mark Mac
Donald requires LEED certification of employees and a commitment to forward thinking.
Ocean Gate's projects are sensitive to surrounding landscape and existing habitats.
It uses only materials that are eco-friendly. In addition is a supporter of
Florida environmental groups,
particularly non-profit advocates of ocean research.
Ocean Gate General Contractors, Inc built the Cummings
library Children’s Library addition and renovated the existing structure
designed by Stephen Boruff Architects. This has been a very special
project for Ocean Gate, because it represents planting seeds for the future of
our community. Donating these trees to
MartinCounty is planting seeds, and
embracing green practices that will flourish for future generations in
MartinCounty.
