President Mark MacDonald of Ocean Gate General Contractors and a select team including Sean Lukas, Samantha Kayser and Shalimar Fernandez traveled to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to the Hyatt Pier 66 hotel to attend the Florida Aviation Trades Association (FATA) annual meeting. As a committed member to this organization that actively promotes and protects the rights, interests and development of Florida’s aviation industry, Ocean Gate supported FATA by sponsoring the opening night cocktail reception for the second year in a row on Monday, June 9, 2008.

 

The reception kicked off with a twist as attendees and their guests were greeted by a pirate and his two wenches decked out in full pirate regalia. A photographer was on hand to snap shots of the party attendees with their choice of seafarer companion featuring a pirate ship backdrop. Printed photographs were distributed the following morning at the Ocean Gate booth as a memento of the conference.

 

“We wanted to make this year’s annual meeting extra special for FATA members,” said MacDonald. “The pirates added the perfect touch of fun to a wonderful work and educational experience.”

 

Party goers nibbled on a variety of delicious finger foods and sipped on cocktails while chatting with organization members. In true FATA tradition, the reception progressed well past its scheduled time. The Ocean Gate team took this opportunity to catch up with friends and meet the FATA new members.

 

The nautically themed conference was an exciting opportunity for the Ocean Gate representatives to learn more about the aviation community and their needs.
