Stuart, Florida – Ocean Gate General Contractors is a proud sponsor of the Florida Oceanographic Society’s 9th annual fundraiser, Swashbuckler 2008 “Starry Night, Pirates Delight”, at the Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center on Hutchinson Island on March 6th from 6 PM to 11 PM. As the Polaris Treasure Tent Sponsor, Ocean Gate donated $7,500 to help set the stage for a fun filled evening of pirates, entertainment, food and more. Proceeds from the event will be used for the Center’s educational programs.
“At Ocean Gate, we’re environmentally conscious and we look for opportunities to help educate the public about the importance of preserving our ecosystems and using our resources wisely,” said Mark MacDonald, president of Ocean Gate General Contractors. “This event is a great way for us to contribute to the enhancement of environmental education in Martin County.”
The Florida Oceanographic Society is a non-profit organization founded in 1964 by James H. Rand and five community leaders. The founding directors envisioned the organization to support the study of marine sciences and to disseminate information to the public. Its mission is to protect, preserve and restore Florida’s ocean and coastal ecosystems through education, research and personal stewardship.
